El Dorado Hires Brett Shockley as Head Football Coach
The El Dorado School District approved the hiring of longtime college assistant Brett Shockley as the next head football coach of the Wildcats during Monday night’s school board meeting.

Shockley arrives from Ouachita Baptist University, where he spent nearly 20 years on staff and most recently served as recruiting coordinator while coaching the offensive line and tight ends.
During his tenure, Shockley helped build one of the most consistent offenses in the Great American Conference. He was part of the Tigers’ 2024 conference championship season, developing multiple all-conference players, including All-America selection Dylan Horton and freshman standout Isaiah Simpson, who was named GAC Freshman of the Year.
Ouachita’s offensive production under Shockley was highlighted by a 2023 season in which the Tigers averaged 39.8 points per game, ranking second in the league. His offensive lines were instrumental in establishing a dominant rushing attack, producing nine 1,000-yard rushers and averaging more than 250 rushing yards per game since 2008.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Shockley was a three-year letterman on the Razorbacks’ offensive line and played in the Citrus Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Las Vegas Bowl.
Shockley takes over an El Dorado program aiming to return to prominence, bringing with him extensive experience in player development, recruiting and building physical offensive fronts. He and his wife, Leigh Anne, have two children.
