England High School Forfeits Friday Football Game Against Mayflower
England High School has announced that its scheduled football game against Mayflower on Friday, September 12, 2025, has been cancelled due to a forfeit.
The decision comes in the wake of last week’s game against Drew Central, which was cut short after a sideline brawl. That incident led to 14 player suspensions and left the Lions dealing with additional injuries, making it unsafe for the team to compete this week.
School officials confirmed the cancellation in a statement, citing both the disciplinary actions and health concerns affecting the roster.
“With the suspensions and injuries from last week’s events, our team is unable to safely compete,” the school said. “We thank our community for their continued support of EHS Lions Athletics.”
Drew Central/England Players Suspended Following Friday Night Brawl
Both Drew Central and England high schools will take the field Friday night with several players sidelined after a brawl erupted during their football game last week, forcing officials to call the contest early.
