Former Volunteer Coach Faces Additional Felony Charges in Multi-County Child Exploitation Case
Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) have filed additional felony charges against Alejandro Mendoza, 35, of Texarkana, following an ongoing investigation involving multiple juvenile victims across southwest Arkansas.
Mendoza is a former volunteer volleyball coach.
Mendoza was formally charged on Wednesday, October 1, in both Nevada and Hempstead counties with numerous sex crimes against children. He now faces 24 felony counts, including rape, indecency with a child by exposure, sexual grooming of a child, internet stalking of a child, and multiple counts of engaging children in sexually explicit conduct.
The investigation began in July 2024 after the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the ASP Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Mendoza was first arrested on September 11, 2024, and held on a $250,000 bond.
He was arrested a second time on October 7, 2024, in a coordinated effort by ASP’s Highway Patrol Division and the U.S. Marshals Service Western District of Arkansas Fugitive Task Force. Following that arrest, Circuit Judge Duncan Culpepper raised Mendoza’s bond to $2 million.
Authorities say the former volunteer coach has been linked to victims in Miller, Sevier, Hempstead, and Nevada counties. The investigation remains ongoing.
Mendoza is being held at the Nevada County Detention Center.
