Poyen Indian Classic Set for Busy Week of Baseball
UPDATE: Monday’s games have been postponed until Wednesday due to the weather.
The Poyen Indian Classic Baseball Tournament returns this week with a full slate of games beginning Tuesday and running through Saturday, culminating with the championship contest on March 14.
Multiple area programs will take the field in what promises to be a competitive early-season showcase. Games will be played throughout the week, leading into bracket play and the championship round Saturday afternoon.
Below is a breakdown of the tournament schedule and matchups.
First Round — Tuesday, March 10
Game 3 — Rison vs. Magnet Cove
4:30 p.m.
Rison opens tournament play Tuesday afternoon against Magnet Cove in what could be one of the more evenly matched contests of the opening round.
Game 4 — Hampton vs. Poyen
6:50 p.m.
Host school Poyen takes the field Tuesday evening against Hampton. The Indians will look to capitalize on home-field advantage as they begin their tournament run.
Opening Round Continues — Wednesday, March 11
Game 1 — Conway St. Joseph vs. CMS
4:30 p.m.
The tournament continues Wednesday afternoon with Conway St. Joseph facing CMS. Both teams will look to establish momentum early in bracket play.
Game 2 — Mt. Pine vs. Fountain Lake
6:50 p.m.
Mt. Pine and Fountain Lake close out Wednesday’s action in the nightcap. The winner advances into Thursday’s semifinal round.
Semifinals — Thursday and Friday
Game 5 — Losers Bracket
Thursday, March 12 — 4:30 p.m.
Game 6 — Semifinal
Thursday, March 12 — 6:50 p.m.
Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2
Thursday’s late game features the winners of Monday’s matchups battling for a spot in Saturday’s championship.
Game 7 — Losers Bracket

Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4
Friday night’s semifinal will determine the second team advancing to the title game.

The tournament concludes Saturday with a full day of baseball, highlighted by the championship game at 5 p.m.
With games scheduled across six days, the Poyen Indian Classic provides area programs an opportunity to test early-season depth, pitching rotations and defensive consistency. By Saturday evening, one team will emerge with the tournament title, closing out a competitive week of baseball in Poyen.
