Rivercrest Names Brandon Powell as Head Football Coach
Rivercrest has named Brandon Powell as its next head football coach, the school announced Tuesday night on its social media platforms.
Powell arrives at Rivercrest following a successful tenure as head coach at East Poinsett County, where he compiled a 51-30 overall record. He served as the longest-tenured head coach in Warriors history and guided the program to sustained postseason success during his time there.
In 2025, Powell led East Poinsett County to an 11-1 record and a dominant run through the 2A-2 Conference, capturing the league title. The Warriors averaged 41.5 points per game that season and advanced to the Class 2A state championship game before falling 20-14 to Cross County.
Powell takes over the Rivercrest program following the departure of Johnny Fleming, who stepped down in June 2025 as head football coach and athletic director for health reasons. Brett Hardin has served as interim head coach since Fleming’s resignation.
