Rivercrest names Brett Hardin interim head coach after Johnny Fleming steps down
The Rivercrest School District has announced that Coach Brett Hardin has been named Interim Head Football Coach and Athletic Director for the Rivercrest Colts High School program for the 2025–2026 school year. In addition to his new athletic responsibilities, Hardin will also take on the role of Junior High Dean of Students.
This leadership transition comes as longtime head coach Johnny Fleming steps away from coaching due to recent health concerns. Although stepping down from the sidelines, Coach Fleming will remain a valued member of the Rivercrest community by continuing to serve students as a Physical Education teacher.
Coach Hardin will guide the Colts football program through the upcoming season. At the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year, the district will evaluate coaching assignments to determine long-term plans and leadership structure moving forward.
“We are thankful for the leadership and dedication of both Coach Hardin and Coach Fleming,” district officials stated. “Their commitment to our student-athletes and the entire Rivercrest community is deeply appreciated.”
The Rivercrest School District also expressed its appreciation for the entire Colts coaching staff and their continued support of student development both on and off the field.
