Vilonia Names Brasher Defensive Coordinator
The Vilonia Eagles football program has announced the hiring of Stephen Brasher as its new defensive coordinator, according to a release from the Vilonia Eagle Football Foundation and head coach Kyle Russell.
Brasher brings a diverse coaching background and administrative experience to Vilonia, along with a reputation for player development and leadership.
A graduate of Magnolia High School, Brasher was an all-conference linebacker before continuing his education at the University of Central Arkansas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He later obtained a master’s degree in building administration from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Brasher began his coaching career in 2015 at Monticello High School, serving as the junior high defensive coordinator. He later moved to Greenbrier High School, where he was head junior high coach and defensive line coach. During his tenure, he was named Teacher of the Year at Greenbrier Junior High.
Most recently, Brasher served as defensive coordinator at Beebe High School while also working as dean of students at Beebe Junior High.
Russell said Brasher’s addition will strengthen the program.
“Coach Brasher is an outstanding football coach, educator and leader of young men,” Russell said. “His defensive knowledge, energy and passion for the game will be a tremendous asset to our program.”
Brasher and his wife, Paige, have a 3-year-old son, Cooper. The family is relocating to Vilonia as he takes on his new role.
